about the project

The concept of a greenbelt-retaining an undeveloped or "wild" border of land surrounding a portion of urban space - was used in the construction of ancient Hebrew cities. The greenbelt has recently been incorporated into conservation efforts around the globe to reestablish the continuous migration routes used by what now considered endangered species. The greenbelt appears within sensitive environments to halt desertification and protect water resources. The Greenbelt Meridian Project proposes a great circle around the world. James and I will actualize a small section of the proposed Greenbelt Meridian by installing a 200 ft x 10 ft. longitudinal corridor, passing through the Hardesty Arts Center gallery space in Tulsa, Oklahoma during the summer of 2015.  It will contain construction, collage, ceramics, soil painting, animation and sound to support a visual examination of eternal connectivity.
